In Halifax, as in many cities, we have protesters downtown taking part in the "Occupy Wall Street" movement. I understand what the protesters are complaining about - the Beast of Corporate Greed scares the schniz out of me too. And like the protesters, I haven't many good, clear suggestions what ought to be done about it. It's capitalism, whatcha gonna do? (My favourite quote about the whole thing so far is I something I heard in passing on the news, where one of the protesters borrowed a slogan from the gay community and declared "We're here, we're unclear, get used to it!)
So anyway. All that is fine. These questions are important.
Today in the news you'll find the mayor of the city wants the protesters to move out of the parade grounds so the place can be prepared for some city stuff - such as the Remembrance Day ceremony. Because this is Nova Scotia and we are Really Nice People, he's even offered them space on the Commons. No doubt the city will continue to provide porta-potties for them there, too. But I heard some of the protesters talking on the news this morning, saying they don't think they should move.
Excuse me? What?
Shame on you. This is Remembrance Day. You have the Right to Protest because people fought and died for you to have that right. You owe those people more than just respect, but you can start there. Pack up your stuff. Come back later if you want to, but Remembrance Day is not about you.

Happy Freaking New Year
I should be working.
Ideally, I should be working my ass off.
Actually, I am presently on the phone informing a client that when he installed his RAM he bent pins in the socket and now it's fried. But in my heart, I am not working today.
I just am not feeling this place today, I want to write. I want to read. I want to bake. I want to sit in the rocking chair with my daughter. I want to lay on the carpet and play battleship with my son. I want to have a beer and play Wii with my husband. I do not want to calculate and reconcile the actual value of my inventory. I do not want to calculate and remit the electronic handling fees from December, or the effing HST, for that matter. I don't want to prepare any of these various files for my year end.
But even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to do any of those things. It's the blessed people. Coming in. Calling. Emailing. And always with the ever loving questions.
I could take the time right now to tell you how lucky I am, how beautiful Christmas and my baby brother's wedding was, but I'm not in the mood. So go ahead and assume all that, okay? I'm going to stomp away in a snit now and that's how it's going to be.
So there.

Erg!
Baby seems to have added a new nap to her day, from 8 pm until 8:30 pm, at which time she awakes refreshed and ready to charm the pants off her tired mother until 11 pm. In the last three days I have spent zero time soaking in the tub, about one hour reading, and about half an hour writing. I feel a little tantrum coming on. (S)
Since she's asleep, I'm going to do something pointless and restful. Dunno what yet, but it's fer sure going to be useless, and I'll probably eat some of Little Boy's Halloween candy.
Hope y'all are doing well. I'll make the blog rounds later on. After the dentist and winter-boot shopping and...oh, nevermind.
